Childrens Music and Song
Music and Song
Music and song sessions for all ages. Sing along or just watch!
Come and join Karen for a chance to sing your favourite action songs for pre-schoolers. If we were together we would be handing out hats to represent the animals in the songs. Have you got toys or teddys you can use, or maybe draw yourselves some pictures you can dance with?
Song 1: If you're happy and you know it (2 minutes)
Song 2: Five little speckled frogs (2 minutes)
Song 3: Grampa's Farm (4 minutes)
Song 4: Daddies taking us to the zoo (3 minutes)
The Love Music Trust Youth Ensemble
The Love Music Trust has been keeping Cheshire kids involved with ensemble rehearsals, mostly via zoom, since the pandemic hit. The LMT Folk Ensemble (directed by Fluff Smith) embarked on a composition project in Summer 2020. Storyteller Tom Hughes joined the group for a session on Zoom and told a Cheshire Folk Tale which was used to seed the creativity of the young musicians. The resulting tunes were compiled in a booklet with the text and artwork. For this special performance for February Folk Day the young musicians have learned and recorded each others compositions which illustrate the tale as told by Tom. Many thanks to Mike Westhead for his time compiling this complicated project! Enjoy.
NYFTE (pronounced "nifty") are a team of 10-18 year olds from all over the country, who perform traditional dance, music and song and view Chippenham as their "home" festival - they've been to the festival every year for decades! Unable to meet in person during 2020 due to covid, they put together a number of online performances instead and the following video is a selection of highlights from these, with individual and collaborative contributions from team members. If you are interested in finding out more about NYFTE, including how to join, please visit
Families will enjoy joining in with our zoom ceilidhs and the Keith Donnelly Family Show is not to be missed. Why not buy a ticket for all or part of the weekend?
